Notes: This boy had the same owner for over 10 years and he sadly had to release him to county because he "no longer can care for him." I got the impression the owner is elderly and/or ill. Gilman is quiet and well mannered, very nice boy on leash. He must go to a cat free home as will kill cats according to his paperwork. He is 10+ years old and about 80 lbs.

History/Personality: For the past year, an EMT has spent time with a woman that he frequently transported. She passed away last week, and neither her caregiver nor her family members would agree to look after her two dogs -- Nacho and Licorice. They were threatening to have the dogs put down, so the EMT offered to take the dogs. These two dogs are the sweetest, most fabulous dogs around. Nacho is 10 but she is so lively and energetic you wouldnt know she was 10. Licorice is 8 years old; he is a diabetic, currently stable on 3 units of insulin twice a day. He takes his shots like a champ and doesn't even flinch. He is a large guy -- about 20 pounds, but with some weight regulation his diabetes could become less problematic and possibly even be erradicated. He is a huge ball of love. The dogs must be placed together.

Seattle, WA -- Spotted "Golden Girls" Need Miracle Home
Gracie (standing in the back) and her sister Faith are hoping for a miracle. They are impounded at the Humane Society of Cowlitz County in Longview, WA. They are both senior citizens, but life has not been easy for Faith. She is crippled by old age and arthritic, and has difficulty walking. We are looking for a retirement home for these two special Dalmatians, one where they can live out their lives on soft beds and soothed by gentle words. We would like them to be adopted together, because we're afraid if we separate one from the other, they would die of a broken heart. They take care of each other, gently cleaning faces and ears. Gracie has a skin condition, and even though Faith is crippled, she still tends to her sister. Just watching these two gentle souls will bring a tear to your eye.
