She's also sweet, loving, and a PERFECT doggie! Sunny is 7 years old, spayed, all shots, HW Neg, Microchipped & dewormed. She is ready to go, and needs a permanent home or rescue ASAP. Please don't let this beautiful girl end back up at the shelter. Foster mom has to place her within this week. Please, please help this beauty if you can. Name: Colby
Mix/Breed: Border Collie or Cattle Dog (mix of both?)
Sex/Age/Weight: Male, approx. 10 years young, 50 lbs.
Health: Neutered. Up to date on vaccinations. Heartworm positive when rescued with 13 other abused dogs. Is currently undergoing heartworm treatment and is doing fine! For additional health information, contact the agency listed below.
History/Personality: Colby REALLY wants your love and attention! He is a little shy and submissive until he gets to know you better. Then, he's affectionate and loving and 'all over you'!! He REALLY craves attention, love and security. Although Colby is good with other dogs, he doesn't need to live with other dogs in order to be the happy guy he is. As for kids, older kids would be more appropriate, as he tends to jump up in sheer enthusiasm and excitement. As far as cats go, he likes to naughtily chase them outdoors, so it's best he not live with any. Colby is looking to spend his golden years in an attentive home with a family that is willing to spoil him rotten and worship him for the splendid senior dog he is! This is a wonderful dog!!

Charlotte Out of Harm's Way Small Dog Adoption: The Out of Harm's Way mission is to improve the lives of homeless, abandoned, neglected, and abused dogs through our rescue, rehabilitation, and re-homing efforts. We endeavor to remove them from harm's way by pulling them from kill shelters, taking them in through owner surrenders, providing for their immediate medical needs, evaluating their behavioral and social needs, then finding suitable placements for them so that they may live out the remainder of their lives happy, healthy, and well loved. We seek to show all these animals the love and respect they deserve, which comes through humane care, heartfelt compassion, and the touch of human kindness.

The Haven -- Friends for Life
Founder Linden Spear sometimes won't give up for adoption the seniors she rescues, but instead keeps them herself. The reason? She says, "Some of those dogs are just too old to be told they've been dropped off at a shelter." If you can give an older dog a really good home, though, she might consider letting one go.

Paws' Place
The Paw's Place mission: "
(1) We save pets - the abandoned, the abused and the neglected, whose previous backgrounds were ALL filled with neglect due to overpopulation and uninformed owners, who lacked the foresight to spay or neuter, or to provide heartworm preventative for their domestic pets. (2) We nurse them back to health. (3) We provide a sanctuary for those that are unable to be adopted. (4) And, most important of all, we find them loving homes - no matter how long it takes. Paw's Place receives unwanted, abused and neglected animals from the community, and in return, provides healthy companion animals. Paw's Place has several programs with the community schools to provide animal care, education, and volunteer work programs. From August 1999 to December 2003, we have adopted over 565 dogs and puppies and house another 100." Paw's Place, Inc., 3701 Boiling Spring Road, Winnabow, NC 28479. Phone: 910-845-PAWS.
