Dottie, a spayed female Dalmation is approximately ten years old. Dottie was found as a stray, very malnourished and covered with fleas. Despite her sad history, she is a cheerful dog and quite determined to make the most of her newfound good fortune. She likes to be around other dogs, is good with cats, and loves to be petted. She seems to like everyone including children. Dottie will need to go to a home where she is not left alone for more than 3-4 hours at a time. She also needs to be fed home-made food to try to increase her weight. She receives pain medication twice daily for her joints, but her x-rays show no specific damage. Like most Dalmations, her hearing is impaired, but her eyesight is fine. Dottie is a sweet dog who is very appreciative of the care she receives. She would love to find a permanent home for her remaining years. Dottie, is being fostered by Shirley Larsen, home phone 707-643-8595, cell 707-334-8595. She was found by Brita Jonsson, who is partly sharing her care, home 510-522-5838.

This is an extremely people oriented dog who also gets along famously with other dogs. She rides beautifully in the car and appears to be housebroken. Sally probably weighs around 60 pounds and has the softest fur now that she's had a bath! She so deserves a home of her very own!

Name: Sheba
Mix/Breed: Belgian Shepherd mix
Sex/Age/Weight: Female, 11 years, 40 lbs.
Health: Spayed. Up to date on shots. Healthy joints for her age! Vet records available upon request.
History/Personality: Sheba is a sweet companion with more energy than you'd expect! She has a long, shaggy, dense coat which needs to be groomed regularly. Frisky and affectionate, she tends to be shy of men at first meeting, but warms up with gentle patience. Sheba was discarded at a shelter by her family after ten years of loyal devotion, and was scheduled to be euthanized. She is seeking a single person, couple, or family who would be willing to give her a loving forever home for the remainder of her life. Sheba can coexist peacefully with other dogs, although she food-guards around them. No resource-guarding w/people, though. She enjoys chasing cats that run from her, but ignores cats that are dog-savvy and refuse to run away. Sheba would like an indoor-outdoor home, with a fenced yard. She's well-behaved when left on her own while you're at work, but is a bit of an escape artist. Sheba wants to be your walking partner as well as your couch potato buddy.

Name: Lucky
Mix/Breed: Terrier/Bearded Collie mix
Sex/Age/Weight: Male, 11 years, 45 lbs.
Health: Neutered. Up to date on shots. Microchipped. For additional health information, contact the agency listed below.
History/Personality: Lucky is a not-so-lucky dog. After 11 years as a presumably faithful friend, he was abandoned at the Pinole Shelter because his family was "moving." Lucky had about a zero chance of adoption at the shelter, and he was due to be euthanized on 1/25/05. He got a stay of execution for a few hours until we could pick him up. He then was supposed to go to a foster home, but after just being out of the shelter and meeting the fosterer's dog on leash, he snarled and blew that opportunity. He almost went back to the shelter, but his rescuer couldn't do it. Since then he has met several dogs off leash, and spent the past year living with seven other dogs in his foster home, and he is doing fine. Some very brief growling sometimes, but nothing major, and some dorky attempts at playing. He has let his rescuer groom him, clean his ears, scrape his teeth some...he is a wonderful, shaggy dog who will make a great companion. He acts about five, and has lots of energy to go out for walks around town! Please consider this great, Benji-like older gentleman for your companion! No one can believe he is 11, but however old he is, he is young at heart and glad to be alive, and deserves his own loving home!

Name: Ezzie (Ezra)
Mix/Breed: Elkhound/German Shepherd
Sex/Age/Weight: Male, Approx. 10 yrs, 55lbs.
Health: Neutered. Up to date on shots. For additional health information, contact the agency listed below.
History/Personality: Ezzie is a beautiful, loving guy who gets along with any person. For being as old as he is, he still has a lot of pizzazz and carries a lot of the Elkhound breed traits. He would be a wonderful companion for an older person or couple who likes to go for walks. Ezzie is also very obedient and smart. Please help him find his "forever home" so he doesn't have to spend any more of his life here.

Name: Babe
Mix/Breed: Lab/Greyhound Cross
Sex/Age/Weight: Female, 9 years, 45 lbs.
Health: Spayed. Up to date on shots. No health problems.
History/Personality: Don't let that grey face fool you, this Babe has more energy than dogs half her age! We don't know precisely how old she is, we're estimating around 8-9 years old, give or take. Babe would be a wonderful companion for someone who likes to get out and about on a daily basis. She loves to run and explore - in fact, you're going to need a good, high fence if you adopt Babe because she's got a bit of the wanderlust in her. She does not enjoy the company of other dogs or cats so should be the only animal in the household. She does well with children, particularly older ones, and is very friendly and outgoing with people. She likes her pets and attention. Babe is affectionate and sweet and a real grand dame of a dog who deserves to have a loving home in which to spend her golden years.
